Troubleshooting Sensor Disconnections

Sensor and App Connection

Overview

If your session disconnects, it may be due to common issues such as Bluetooth interruptions, weak contact with the ear sensor, poor pulse detection, a low battery, or temporary signal interference.

To resolve the issue, try the following troubleshooting steps.

Checking and Connecting Your HeartMath Sensor

Before connecting your HeartMath sensor, follow these steps to ensure a smooth and stable connection.

Step 1: Prepare Your Device and App

  • Check the App Store (for iOS) or Play Store (for Android) for any available updates to the HeartMath app.

  • Refresh Bluetooth by turning it off, waiting about 5 seconds, and then turning it back on.

  • Ensure your Wi-Fi or mobile data connection is strong and stable.

  • Make sure the sensor is fully charged and not plugged into a power source while connecting to the app.

  • Note: A low battery may cause unstable readings or interruptions during a session.

Step 2: Verify the Sensor Connection

  • Observe the plus-heart light on the sensor:

    • It will blink white when powering on.

    • It will turn solid white once connected to the app.

  • Check the blue light on the power button, which indicates a successful connection.

Step 3: Ear Sensor Tips

  • Unplug the ear sensor jack from the Bluetooth pod.

  • Wipe the metal jack and ear clip with a clean cloth or alcohol swab.

  • Reinsert the sensor firmly into the Bluetooth pod and ensure it is fully seated.

  • Gently rotate the jack to confirm a secure connection.

  • Warm or lightly rub your earlobe for a few seconds to improve blood flow.

  • Attach the ear clip properly and begin a new session.

Additional Tip:
If the disconnection persists, try restarting your mobile device and reconnecting the sensor from within the HeartMath app’s connection settings.
