How to Convert a Standard Session to an HRV Assessment (emWave Pro Plus)

Overview

Sometimes a user may record a session using the standard "Run Session" mode but later realizes they need the detailed clinical metrics (RMSSD, SDNN, Power Spectrum) provided by the HRV Assessment feature.

While these modes are usually separate, you can convert a standard session into an Assessment by temporarily modifying your registration number to unlock the "Convert" feature.

Requirements

Before attempting this conversion, please ensure you meet the following criteria:

  1. Software License: You must have emWave Pro Plus. This applies if you have either upgraded your existing software or purchased the Pro Plus edition directly.

  2. Registration Key: You must have a valid emWave Pro Plus Registration Number that starts with the prefix EMA (e.g., EMAxxxx-xxxx-xxxx).

    • Note: Standard emWave Pro licenses (starting with other prefixes) do not support the Assessment feature.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Modify Your Registration Number

To enable the conversion tool, you must change the prefix of your emWave Pro Plus serial number.

  1. Open emWave Pro.

  2. Go to Help (Windows) or emWave Pro (Mac) in the top menu bar.

  3. Select Registration.

  4. Locate your specific emWave Pro Plus Registration Number (starting with "EMA").

  5. The Change: Replace the letter "A" with the letter "R".

    • Current: EMAxxxxxxx

    • New: EMRxxxxxxx

  6. Click OK to save the change.

Step 2: Convert the Session

Now that the feature is unlocked:

  1. In the Review Progress screen (the database view), click to highlight/select the specific session you wish to convert.

  2. Go to the Run menu at the top of the screen.

  3. Select the option: Convert to Assessment.

  4. The software will process the data.

Step 3: View the Assessment

  1. Navigate to the Assessment section of the software (usually the icon that looks like a clipboard/medical chart).

  2. Your converted session will now appear in the list.

  3. You can now open it to view the full HRV report, including RMSSD, SDNN, and Frequency Domain data.

Important: Once you are finished converting sessions, we recommend changing your Registration Number back to the original "EMA" format to ensure standard functionality.
