Group Sensor Setup in the HeartMath App (Classroom Mode Alternative)
When several people set up Inner Balance Coherence Plus Sensors in the same room, such as a classroom, workshop, or group training, the HeartMath App can find more than one sensor nearby. To make sure each person sees their own readings, the app asks you to verify your Sensor ID the first time you connect. Confirming the correct ID links your app to your sensor.
Note: The HeartMath App doesn't have a separate Classroom Mode setting like the Inner Balance app. Sensor ID verification during first-time setup serves the same purpose.
Before You Begin
- App: Ask participants to install or update the HeartMath App before the session.
- Sensor ID: Ask each participant to find and note the Sensor ID printed on their own sensor. They'll need it to confirm the connection.
- Charge: Make sure sensors are charged before the session.
When You'll See the Sensor ID Prompt
The prompt appears the first time you connect a Bluetooth sensor from any of these places in the app:
- The Practice Session screen
- A Technique
- A multi-day program
How to Connect and Verify Your Sensor
- Start a Practice Session, Technique, or program in the HeartMath App.
- When asked how you'd like to measure, choose Bluetooth (the other options are Camera and Wired).
- Turn on your Coherence Plus Sensor.
- Attach the ear clip to your earlobe.
- Tap Bluetooth. The app scans for nearby sensors.
- When the app finds a sensor, it asks you to verify the Sensor ID. Compare the ID on screen to the ID on your sensor.
- If the IDs match: Confirm to continue.
- If the IDs don't match: The app has found someone else's sensor. Edit the Sensor ID, enter the ID from your own sensor, and confirm.
Your app and sensor are now linked, and you'll see your own readings during the session.
Tips for Facilitators
- Have everyone note their Sensor ID before anyone starts connecting.
- Walk the group through the setup together, step by step, so everyone reaches the Sensor ID prompt at the same time.
- Before starting the session, ask everyone to confirm that the ID on screen matches the ID on their own sensor.
- If a participant's readings don't respond to their breathing or look unusual, check whether they're connected to someone else's sensor.

- Note the Sensor ID on your sensor.
- Start a session, choose Bluetooth, turn on the sensor, and attach the ear clip.
- When prompted, make sure the Sensor ID shown is yours. Edit it if needed, then confirm.
