HeartMath Certifications for Health Professionals: HMIP, Clinical Certification, and The Resilient Heart

HeartMath offers three certification programs for licensed and certified health professionals. All three are designed to help you bring HeartMath techniques and heart rate variability (HRV) coherence training into your work with patients.

The three health professional certifications

HeartMath Interventions Program (HMIP)

Advanced clinical training for in-office sessions using emWave® Pro Plus, with standardized HRV assessments, separate patient profiles, and session histories.

  • Best for: clinicians who want structured, in-office HRV biofeedback sessions and assessments
  • Price: $499, including emWave Pro Plus, or $649 with the Inner Balance Coherence Plus sensor added

HeartMath Clinical Certification (HCC)

A 20-hour program built around the Inner Balance Coherence Plus sensor and app, supporting practice in clinical or virtual settings and between visits. It includes online modules and assignments, and a final exam with an 80% passing score.

  • Best for: clinicians who want patients to practice coherence at home and between sessions
  • Price: $249, or $399 with the Coherence Plus sensor

The Resilient Heart: Trauma-Sensitive HeartMath® Certification (TRH)

Training in applying HeartMath techniques in trauma-sensitive professional practice.

  • Best for: clinicians working with patients affected by trauma
  • Price: $299, or $449 with the Coherence Plus sensor

Which one is right for me?

All three are recommended for health professionals. Many clinicians choose based on how they work with patients:

  • In-office sessions with detailed HRV assessments: HMIP
  • Home practice and between-visit support: HCC
  • Trauma-sensitive care: TRH

Who is eligible?

These programs are for licensed or certified health professionals, such as physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, therapists, and occupational therapists. Health-profession students may qualify after completing their first year, with a valid transcript.

Life, personal, and business coaches and corporate trainers are not eligible for these clinical programs. HeartMath offers separate certifications for coaches and trainers.
